Which countries can exchange licences with Spain?
All EU/EEA licences are recognised under EU rules. Exchange treaties cover, among others, the UK, Ukraine, most Latin American countries, Morocco, Turkey, Japan and South Korea. Conditions differ by country — we verify your specific case.
How long can I drive in Spain on my foreign licence?
As a rule, non-EU licences are valid only for your first 6 months of legal residence. After that you need a Spanish licence — by exchange or by taking Spanish exams.
What documents do I need?
Your licence, NIE/TIE, padrón certificate, an official psychotechnical medical test and photos. Some treaties require the licence to pre-date your Spanish residency and a verification step with your home country — we start that early to save weeks.
