Frequently asked questions

What income do I need for the digital nomad visa?

The reference is 200% of the Spanish minimum wage (SMI) for the main applicant, plus additional percentages per family member. Income must come from employers or clients outside Spain (freelancers may keep up to 20% of income from Spanish sources).

How long is the permit valid?

Applying from within Spain, the initial permit is granted for up to 3 years and is renewable. Applying at a consulate, you receive a 1-year visa that later converts into a residence permit. Time on this permit counts towards long-term residency and citizenship.

Can I bring my family?

Yes — spouse or partner and children can apply together with you in the same procedure.

What is the social security requirement?

The trickiest part of the file: you need either a certificate of coverage from your country (if a bilateral agreement exists) or registration with Spanish social security (employer or self-employed). We assess this first, before anything is filed.
